Rara-Avis

Rara-Avis

Built in 1957 at the Terneuzen shipyard in the Netherlands, the Rara-Avis is a steel-hulled sailboat and has the particularity of having a flat bottom like the barges of the Thames. Having belonged to a rich American at the time of its launch, it sailed, until 1995, on the English Channel during Fall season and in the United States, in Canada and in the West Indies during the rest of the year. After that from 1998 to 2002, the Rara Aris was put in restoration work, so that it could sail again over long distances as it will do during the race!
